Zelia Fidanque Kanters Goldberg (Zee / Amama / MamaZee) gently passed away in her St. Louis Park, Minnesota home, Sunday, June 20, 2021, surrounded by her two devoted daughters, Susie and Laurie, 24 days after her 100th birthday. Born May 28, 1921 in Panama City, Republic Panama, to Benjamin and Bertha Fidanque. After completing primary school in Panama City, Zee attended Penn Hall School for Girls in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in speech at Northwestern University. Soon after returning home to Panama, she met a handsome young Major, Lawrence Kanters of Salem, Massachusetts; and was married July 15, 1943. In their 35 years of marriage, Zee created 8 different homes for her family from Panama to California to New York to Pennsylvania to Minnesota. Widowed after Larry’s death in 1978, Zee married Jim Goldberg in 1982 and together they traveled the world until she was widowed a second time in 1993. Zee married her third husband, Howard Kahn, in 1995 and was widowed a third time in 2008. Zee is survived by her 4 children, James Kanters (wife Sharon), Susan Cheatham (husband Tom), Laurie Micheau (husband Randy dec.) and Benjamin Kanters (wife Mary). They gave her 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Zee is also survived by her sister, Jaci Lindo. She is predeceased by her brother, Earle. The family is having a private burial. Shiva will be held at her daughter Laurie’s home, 8909 Hilloway Road, Eden Prairie on Wednesday and Thursday evening at 7 pm.
