Stanley "Stan" Schweitzer

–

Minneapolis, Minnesota

Stanley “Stan” Schweitzer, age 81 of Edina. Born at Eitel Hospital facing Loring Park, in Minneapolis. He was a true Minneapolis boy graduating from Calhoun Elementary, Jefferson Jr. High, West High School and the University of Minnesota where he met his wife Lorraine playing cards at the Hillel House. Stan was full of life. He had so many stories to tell of his work and friendships. No matter where he was in the world he would run into someone he knew. A CPA since 1959, Stan was a true connector, mentor and advisor-a real mensch. He loved golf, pinwheel cookies, the Vikings, making pickles, anything to do with cards and just being with his friends and family. He loved his children and grandchildren to no end. He was generous in every way especially with the time he spent working on causes he believed in. This past year Stan went on a lifelong dream trip to South America, walked his granddaughter down the aisle, and was honored with prestigious community awards, the Lifetime Achievement Award through the Minneapolis Jewish Federation, and was recognized by the Phillips Eye Institute Foundation. Stan was Past President of Temple Israel and was still involved on many Boards of Directors. His passion and enthusiasm will be missed but his legacy will live forever. Stan was at the top of his game in all aspects of his life. Even though we all wanted more time with him we are grateful he didn’t have to retire. We were all blessed to have him in our lives. Stan is preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine; parents, Ann & Herman; and sister, Elaine. Survived by children, Caren (Steve), John (Carey), Jane (Michael); grandchildren, Jenna (Scott), Alec, Josh, Ari, Ilana, Guthrie and Avery and constant companion Renee. Funeral service WEDNESDAY, 12:00pm (Noon) TEMPLE ISRAEL, 2324 Emerson Ave. So. Minneapolis. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lorraine and Stanley Schweitzer Philanthropic Fund at the Minneapolis Jewish Federation or Lorraine and Stanley Schweitzer Family Camp TEKO Scholarship Fund at Temple Israel. SHIVA, 7:00 pm Wednesday and Thursday at 2960 Pilgrim Lane, Plymouth.
