Ron (Marvin) Burton

Ron (Marvin) Burton, May 12, 1935 – May 12, 2012 passed away following a long and determined battle with pancreatic cancer. A self-made and self-styled businessman known for his wit, charm and unending perseverance, Ron was successful in all of his business pursuits. From the insurance business to healthcare to banking, his ambition and imagination were unlimited. Ron was a devoted husband to his wife Elaine of 55 years and a loving father to three children, Daniel (Abigail), David (Julie) and Deanna (Harlan), and five grandchildren, Ben (Neyha), Sophie, Jeremy, Abe, and Josie. Known for his deep commitment to family, his humor and lifelong friendships, Ron’s life touched many. He was an involved community leader, active in his synagogue and other charitable endeavors. Born in 1935 to parents Ben and Dora Burton, Ron grew up on the old West Side of St. Paul with brothers Jerry (deceased) and Arnold. Although he left the West Side, the West Side never left him as his loyal friendships lasted an entire lifetime. Family was the most important part of his life. In addition to his immediate family, his nieces and nephews, cousins and in-laws were always on his mind and close to his heart. A special thank you to all his caregivers who showed amazing compassion during his final weeks. Funeral service 1:00 pm MONDAY May 14th at ADATH JESHURUN CONGREGATION, 10500 Hillside Lane W., Minnetonka. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Elaine and Ron Burton Family Fund at the Sholom Foundation, 3610 Phillips Parkway, Minneapolis MN, 55426. Family will be welcoming friends at SHIVA, 7:00 pm Monday through Wednesday at 2801 Breckenridge Road, Minnetonka.
