Rochelle Porter
October 21, 1950 - December 29, 2021
Rochelle Porter, age 71, of Hopkins, died on December 29th, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Helen Finkelstein. She is survived by her daughter, Cara Strauss; son, Andrew Porter; granddaughters, Emerson, Joee and Sophia; sisters, Sandy (Steven) Eisenman, and Barbara Lerner, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended Minneapolis Strauss family. Rochelle was the oldest child of Holocaust survivors. She grew up in Vineland, NJ and graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Rochelle raised her kids in Lower Merion (a suburb just outside Philadelphia) and was always very close to her family-- especially her sisters. In 1991 Rochelle moved to Scottsdale, AZ where she lived until around 2011, before moving back to Vineland to care for her own dying mom, and to be close to her family. By FAR the most important thing to Rochelle was her kids and grandkids, so in 2016, she moved to Minneapolis full time to be closer to them and became a part of the extended Strauss family. She will be truly missed by all. Funeral service, 12:30 PM, Friday, Dec. 31st at the Minneapolis Jewish Cemetery Chapel, 70 1/2 and Penn. Funeral will be available via Zoom as well. Please email: [email protected] for the link for both the funeral and the Shiva. Family gathering, Saturday night after services at Beth El (services begin at 4:30 PM) and Shiva, Sunday night at Beth El at 7 pm.
