May 7, 1925 - August 17, 2020
Paul Dennis Kunin, “The Buddha”, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 95. Paul was an accomplished businessman, handsome, charming, elegant, charitable, and above all else, loving. He had a twinkle in his eye and a velvety baritone voice that you couldn’t forget. He loved his family fiercely and was happiest surrounded by them, dispensing wisdom, telling stories, laughing and making everyone feel safe, secure, and loved. Paul grew up in the close knit community of Minneapolis’ North Side where he developed friendships that lasted his entire life. He served heroically in WWII, built Maxim’s, a successful national beauty salon chain, all while raising his adoring family. He was the president of Oak Ridge Country Club, where he played golf, his favorite pastime. He travelled the world, gave charitably to many organizations, was a Free Mason and a Shriner, and a lifelong member of Temple Israel Synagogue. Paul is survived by his wife of 69 years, Beverly, brothers Daniel (Constance), Richard, Michael (Srey) Kunin, sisters-in-law Julie Kunin and Lois Johnson, daughters Jennifer Kunin, Wendi (Kenneth) Tanner, grandchildren Andrew (Anda), Todd (April), Adam and Charlie (Caitlin) Ginsberg, Brody (Jody) Stenberg-Delau, Miya (Jason) Kunin-Jeske, Dana Kunin, Jessica (Clark) Smith and Amanda (Robert) Wagner, 11 great grandchildren, and his loyal dog Yogi. Paul was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Cynthia Ginsberg, his parents Maxim & Jeannette, sister Jacqueline, brother Robert, in-laws Manuel & Florence Giffis, brother-in-law Mitchell Johnson and sister-in-law Matilda Kunin. He lived life to the fullest, with a passion for music, the arts, beauty and above all else his family. He was a true gentleman and we will hold him in our hearts forever.
