Morrie Lapidos Obituary (1921 - 2016)

Morrie Lapidos, age 95, of St. Paul, passed away November 15, 2016. Morrie was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Anna Lapidos; brothers, Sid, Bernie and sister, Ruth Lapidos-Miller. Survived by wife of 71 years, Millie; children, Stan Lapidos, Joanne Lapidos Gillman (Bob Gillman), Carole Lapidos (Jeff Spaulding); grandchildren, Rachel Gillman Rischall (Reuben Rischall), Laura Gillman Engelbret (Chris Engelbret), David Gillman (Kelly), Mira Spaulding, Ilana Spaulding, and great-grandchildren, Lily and Hannah Engelbret, Kayla and Shira Rischall, and many loving nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Morrie spent his career in Jewish Communal Services, beginning in Chicago moving to Montreal, Canada then director of St. Paul United Jewish Fund and Council, followed by executive positions in the St. Louis Jewish community and in Wilmington, Delaware. Morrie was active at Mount Zion as well as the St. Paul Jewish Community Center. The family is immensely grateful to the caring staff at Sholom Home East.
