Molly Chanen

Molly Chanen, age 98, of St. Louis Park, passed away November 8, 2018. Preceded in death by husband, Julius Chanen; brother, Dr. Max Tenen; daughter-in-law, Holly Weisberg Chanen. Survived by children, Gayle (Jim) Rapoport, Howard Chanen; grandchildren, Jon (Debbie) Rapoport, Ryan Rapoport, Jessica Chanen, Amanda (Robert) Wagner; great-grandchildren, Amelia and Jacob Rapoport, and many special family members. Molly was born to Gertrude & Gilbert Tenen in Warsaw Poland. In 1928 she immigrated to the United States with her family. Molly graduated from North High School. Together with her husband they owned Northern Auto Parts. She continued to play an active role for many years following Julius’s death in 1976 and remained active through her mid-eighties. She was very active in all things Jewish, Emanuel Cohen Center, Bnai Abraham Synagogue, Bnai Emet Synagogue, Hadassah, Mt Sinai Hospital Auxiliary, Minneapolis Jewish Federation, and Sholom Home. Molly was a devoted wife, daughter, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was loved and she will be missed. A very special thank you to the Executive Director and staff of the Estates of Excelsior for the wonderful care, love and comfort that they gave to her in her later years. Funeral service SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 11TH at 2:30 PM, BET SHALOM CONGREGATION, 13613 Orchard Road, Minnetonka. SHIVA: Temple Israel, 2323 Fremont Ave South, Minneapolis, Sunday and Monday at 7:00 pm.
