May 11, 1925 - May 31, 2021
Our beloved father, Mickey, passed away peacefully, at age 96 on May 31. He was surrounded by his family at death, as in life, with our love, admiration and respect. Mickey’s love of family and his many life-long friendships endured forever. Truly a kind-hearted and generous soul, he was forever going out of his way for others and lightening up all of our lives with his humor. He was born and grew up in St. Paul until his family moved to Minneapolis when he was started Jr. High. He graduated from Mpls. West High School and attending the University of Minnesota. Mickey joined the Army Air Corps and fought in WWII. It felt very appropriate that he passed away on Memorial Day. Mickey’s love for his family, his caring and gentle spirit will live on with us forever. He was a friend to all who knew him, whether in business or his personal life. He joined his uncle in a small manufacturer's representative business for automotive parts and accessories. Eventually, he grew Orren Sales Co. to cover 8 states with 30 salespeople representing national branded automotive and hardware. He was so well respected in his business, he was the first Manufacturer's Representative ever to be elected president of the National Automotive Parts and Accessories Association. He also served on many boards professionally and in the Jewish community. Mickey was preceded in death by: his adored wife of almost 65 years, Carol; parents: John and Fannie Orenstein; sisters and brothers-in-law: Sybil & Seymour Robinson, and Audrey & Harry Brudnoy; nephew: Andy Robinson; and great niece: Jami Marks. He is survived by, daughters: Debbie (Marc) Hasko, Jennifer (Gary) Hand, & Susan Orren; grandson: Josh (Laurie) Hasko; granddaughter: Courtney (Sean) Dveris; great-grandchildren: Gabby, Rachel & Harry Hasko, Daniel & Leah Dveris. Caring and loving niece and nephews: Jill Marks & Jeff Robinson, Steve Unger (Pat Schrade-Unger). We thank his doctors and his incredible caregivers, Jordan, Lali, Lydia and Gary and others, who's loving care and assistance over the years helped him maintain his health, strength, dignity and his sense of humor. Mickey was a beloved man, a good man, a true mensch taking special care of his family, his friends and his community. His memory and our love for him will always be a blessing and an enduring legacy in all our lives. We already miss him more than words can express. In honor of Mickey’s life, donations are preferred to: Carol & Mickey Orren Education Scholarship Endowment Fund at Temple Israel Synagogue, 2323 Fremont Ave. So., Mpls., MN. 55405-2695, N. C.
