Melvin "Mel" Burstein
August 30, 1933 - August 13, 2019
Age 85, of Golden Valley, passed away on August 13, 2019. Preceded in death by parents, Mike and Jeannette Burstein and brother, Daniel E. Burstein. Survived by loving wife of 59 years, Ronnie; children, Craig (Amy) Burstein, Susan "Susie" (Rob) Ribnick and Thomas "Toz" Burstein; grandchildren, Michael, Paige, Matthew, Benjamin, Lili, Jack and Jonah. Mel took great pride serving the United States as an officer in the Navy. Mel received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the Carlson School of Business, graduated Cum Laude with his J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School and was a graduate (with honors) from Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University. Mel had a distinguished career as an attorney, including 32 years at the Federal Reserve Bank from which he retired as Executive Vice President and General Counsel. All who knew Mel appreciated his generosity and kind heart. One of his favorite activities was going out to breakfast with family and friends, not for the food, but for the enjoyment to be with those he loved.His greatest achievement in life was his family which he always put first. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Lydia, Troy and their children for all the extra love and affection given to Mel during the last few years. Funeral service 11:00 AM FRIDAY August 16th at BETH EL SYNAGOGUE, 5225 Barry Street W., St. Louis Park. Memorials preferred to the Crohns and Colitis Foundation or the Birthright Israel Foundation. Family gathering 7:00 PM on Saturday and SHIVA 7:00 PM on Sunday, both at Ronnie's residence.
