Lorane G. Abramson, age 97, lifelong St. Paul resident Passed away July 7, 2019 Preceded in death by nearly everybody, including her husband, Maynard Abramson; father, Leon Gleckman; mother, Rose Goldstein Gleckman; sisters, Florence Shapiro, Helen Mae (Harold "Sonny") Rosenberg; nephew, Leo Shapiro; and many cherished pets. Survived by daughters Margo (David) Fox, Janice "Jani" Abramson, Carole "C.J." Abramson; grandchildren Tamar Fox, Dan Yahn, Jean Mendenhall, Regan Fox, David Liberman, Adam Fox, Claudia Fox; great-grandchildren Leah, Hannah, Isaac; nephews Gary Shapiro, Scott Rosenberg; niece Amy Rose; and other beloved relatives and friends. As the last in our family of the "Greatest Generation", Lorane brought values of that era that showed her daughters how to live fully and purposefully. They are forever grateful. Her daughters, grand-children, great-grandchildren, and extended family were recipients of her unconditional love and respect. She encouraged individualism, kindness, inclusiveness and the importance of following one's dreams. Lorane loved music. As a child, she ballet danced on toe and tap danced. In New York City, she shared the stage and tapped with Bojangles (Bill Robinson). As her young daughters grew up, and Lorane had more time for many of her personal interests, she attended and graduated from the St. Paul School of Art and Design. Her beautiful creations graced her home, as well as the Creativity Building at the Minnesota State Fair. She also had an award winning career in clowning. As "Swanee the Clown" she followed her passion by bringing laughter and joy to others, both as a volunteer and professionally. Entertaining was her joy! When Maynard passed away, she bravely entered the business world, excelling in market research and retail merchandising. She was highly regarded in all her endeavors. She never stopped learning and growing. With the loving care of daughter Carole, she was able to live in her home until very shortly before she passed away. She loved looking out the window at the squirrels, bunnies and birds that were welcome in her yard. We would like to thank United Hospital's Medicine/Oncology Care Center, Unit 4500 for the exceptional care and support given to Lorane and our family. Donor charity of choice. Services were held.
