Leroy Johnson Obituary (2008) - St. Louis Park, Minnesota

Johnson, Leroy “Roy” Age 96 of St. Louis Park passed away Sept. 10, 2008. Patriarch to his family, Roy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and role model. He proudly served in the Navy in WWII. Roy was a lifelong community servant, serving Anoka County as county commissioner for 16 years. He was also instrumental in bring 911 emergency services to Minnesota, the creation of Mercy Hospital, and the completion of the Interstate system. Roy was also a restaurateur, and a lifelong member of Temple Israel. Roy was a man of honor, ethics and charm; a true mensch who will be deeply missed. Thank you to the 3rd floor staff at Sholom Home West, Heartland Hospice, and JFCS Hospice for their loving care and support. Roy is preceded in death by his wife, Ida; son, Barry; granddaughter, Tracy Lee Fink. He is survived by his wife, Fritzie Johnson; daughters, Chelle Stillman (Marvin), and Wendy Johnson; daughter-in-law, Elaine Johnson; grandchildren, Laurie Fink (Rob Hotakinen), Kenneth Chaim Benjamin-Fink (Nicole), Matthew Fink (April), Aaron Johnson (Muriel Orenga), Jennifer Epstein (Hyson), Jed Stillman (Debbie), Scott Stillman (Sheryl); great-grandchildren, Jacob Hotakinen, Isabella Fink, Zachary and Paige Johnson, Ikashi, Makiah, Lila and Elijah Epstein, Sophie, Sam and Grace Stillman, Max and Leah Stillman; step-children, Nan Shaw and Joel Hodroff. Funeral service THURSDAY (TODAY) 11:30AM, TEMPLE ISRAEL, 2324 Emerson Ave S., Mpls. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Jewish Family and Children’s Services, or the Jewish Charity of your choice.
