Leonid Bunimovich Obituary (1942 - 2020)

Leonid Bunimovich, age 78, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2020. Leonid was born in Kirovo-Chepetsk, Russia on June 12, 1942. Preceded in death by his parents, Veniamin Bunimovich and Polina Frumina; brother, Itzhak; and sister, Lores. He is survived by his wife, Sima; daughters, Lana and Tatyana; grandsons, Alex, Eugene, Daniel and Antony; and many nephews and nieces. His family had been fleeing the holocaust. After the war, his family moved back to Minsk, Belarus, where he went to school and worked as a mechanical engineer. In 1967, he met his wife-to-be, Sima Rozengauz, and they had two beautiful daughters. The family moved to the United States in 1995. Leonid lived a life full of laughter, hard work, determination, and strong family bonds. His family considered him the patriarch atop the family tree and he never took the title lightly. He was always strong and just a little bit stubborn, but everyone knew it was his way of getting things done, and they were always done right. He would always put everyone else’s needs before his own, whether it be helping with the grandchildren, doing yard work and house work, or simply making others around him laugh and smile, even if he himself wasn’t in the mood to do so. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and community. Graveside service 2:00 pm on FRIDAY October 23rd at ADATH CHESED SHEL EMES CEMETERY, 3740 Winnetka Ave., Crystal.
