Herman J. Birnberg Obituary (1933 - 2015)

Herman J. Birnberg, of St. Paul, passed away October 24, 2015. Loving son, brother, uncle and friend to many. Successful businessman who transformed the family business into a wholesale catalog showroom in St. Paul. Active volunteer and served as past president of Jewish Community Center of St. Paul as well as serving on other boards. Herman was a very generous, lively, kind, fun loving person devoted to his family. Jokester, storyteller, world traveler, photographer, party giver, gardener, and who brought beauty to everything. Always fashion forward. Lifelong art collector and supporter of the arts. He loved the Minnesota State Fair and sweets. Very social, loved interacting with people and had friends and acquaintances across all walks of life. He will be missed by all who knew him. Preceded in death by parents, Maurice & Fannie Birnberg; sister, Eva (Robert) Launer. Survived by nieces & nephews, Susan Launer Johnson (Jim), Richard Launer (Amy Sadoff), Cynthia Launer (Will Thomas), Michael Launer (Lesli Launer Hines), Jeffrey Rothmeyer (Brandee), Julie Jorgensen (Brian), Zachary and Sasha Launer, Zoe Hines, Maxwell and Avery Launer, Jayden, Brielle & Jackson Rothmeyer, and Katelyn Jorgensen. Funeral service at 11 AM TUESDAY at MOUNT ZION TEMPLE, 1300 Summit Ave., St. Paul. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Herman J. Birnberg Fund at the Saint Paul JCC or donor's choice. SHIVA, 7 PM Tuesday at Mount Zion Temple.
