Dorothy (Dottie) Lipschultz

January 24, 2021

Dorothy “Dottie” Ilean Lipschultz, 95, of Naples, Florida, passed away on January 24, 2021. Dottie was preceded in death by her loving husband Joe, doting daughter Sandy, and siblings Herschel, Ada (Rubenstein), and Paul “Butch” Rifkin. Dottie was born in Saint Paul, MN on July 6, 1925, the youngest daughter of Rose and Morris Rifkin. She was a member of Sigma Delta Tau sorority at the University of Minnesota, where she received an Associates Degree. She is survived by granddaughter Jennifer Neuman, of Newton, MA and grandsons Marc Neuman (Seth Goldberg) of Nashville, TN, sister-in-law Dorothy Lipschultz of Saint Paul, MN, and dozens of nieces and nephews. Dottie loved spending time with friends and family, and made great efforts to entertain and socialize. She loved to take credit for helping to organize the first annual Lipschultz Family Hanukkah party in 1951 as she wanted to ensure the young cousins developed lasting family ties. Dottie was a passionate Democrat and campaigned for many presidential candidates over the years. She was a supporter of Planned Parenthood and believed in a woman’s right to choose. Dottie spent countless days in the office, and evenings with Joe at the first table at Gannon’s. Dottie took great pride in her home and kitchen, and was known for her capons stuffed with wild rice, chicken and matzoh ball soup, kamish bread, poppyseed cookies, and “That Cake.” She crocheted dozens of afghan blankets, cross-stitched holiday tablecloths, needlepointed many canvases, and mailed dozens of boxes of bakery over her lifetime. She never forgot a birthday, and enjoyed creating greeting cards on the computer. Her checkbook was balanced every month to the penny. Dottie enjoyed a very dry Rob Roy with a couple of olives, her glass of white wine, steak and potatoes, baby back ribs, See’s Candies, and chocolate ice cream. She was always happy to see you and never had an enemy. Donations to Planned Parenthood http://www.plannedparenthood.org will be greatly appreciated. Funeral service Friday at 12 noon Central / 1pm Eastern will be live streamed at https://www.facebook.com/TempleShalomNaplesFL/
